Congratulations on your decision to get married in the Catholic Church.  The Sacrament of Matrimony establishes a lifelong union between a man and a woman, and the mutual love between husband and wife becomes an image of the absolute and unfailing love with which God loves humankind.  The Catholic Church teaches that marriage is a Christian vocation.

The Richmond Catholic Parish can host a Catholic wedding ceremony at St Ignatius' Church or St James' Church. In deciding to get married at either of these churches you are indicating a willingness to invest some time and effort into the preparation and ceremony for your wedding. The months leading up to your wedding should be a time of joy.

Celebrant

A couple getting married at St Ignatius' ChurchThe priests at the Richmond Catholic Parish can officiate the wedding ceremony, or you are more than welcome and indeed encouraged to invite a Catholic priest you or your family and friends might know personally to celebrate the wedding for you. Please inform the Parish Office if you are using your own Catholic celebrant. Approximately two to three months before the wedding you should start meeting with your celebrant to undertake the necessary preparations.
